why is cannabis good
Cannabis is most frequently smoked. Smoking in any form is harmful, and tobacco smoking is the largest single cause of ill-health and
premature death in the United Kingdom. Cannabis is illegal and just because you are a student does not mean you can get away with it. We need to
be tougher on people who break the law - especially the minor offences. Cannabis is sown with seeds obtained from the previous harvest or bought
from a neighbour. In both mixed and single-crop fields, matekoane is sown directly in the field where it matures (nurseries and transplanting are
not employed, as they often are in West Africa).
Cannabis is commonly misused by trauma patients (29 - 59%) and is often associated with crime (39%). There has been an increase in seizures
and treatment demand for cannabis. Cannabis is sometimes useful in spermatorrhoea when accompanied by worry, gloomy foreboding, and general
mental and physical depression. Having some aphrodisiac action it may be given with strychnine to restore sexual power lost through excesses, but
not when due to organic changes. Cannabis is the most commonly used illegal drug in Australia. In South Australia, adults found possessing or
using small amounts of cannabis can be issued with a Cannabis Expiation Notice, or 'on-the-spot fine'.
Cannabis is not a “miracle” drug or cure, just an extremely helpful medicine for a wide variety of illnesses. Cannabis is frequently
recommended for use in combination with traditional medical treatments to help maintain and improve health for individuals coping with a variety
of medical conditions. Despite widespread international consensus that cannabis alleviates the effects of a number of our most troubling diseases
and conditions, for too many Americans cannabis is not available as an option in health care. Cannabis is subject to few predators (Smith and
Haney 1973, Stannard et al. Its apparent defensive mechanisms include a generous covering of non-glandular trichomes, emission of volatile
terpenoid substances, and exudation of the sticky cannabinoids.
Cannabis is harmful, yes, but not particularly so. Cannabis is a drug that comes from the
Cannabis sativa plant. It is the most commonly used illicit drug in New Zealand. Cannabis is rarely the only substance used. Other factors, such
as personality, may confound the relationship.
Cannabis is especially useful for AIDS and cancer patients, relieving chronic pain and reducing nausea brought on by chemotherapy and other
medications. Cannabis reduces spasms and neurological overactivity in patients suffering from multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy. Cannabis is
a depressant which slows the messages going to and from the brain to the body. Cannabis can also have mild hallucinogenic effects. Cannabis is
derived from the plant called Cannabis Sativa, which is grown all round the world. The Cannabis plant can also be grown in the UK, people trying
to grow this plant in the UK on a commercial basis unfortunately hit problems as it requires specialist equipment and plenty of light and
warmth.
Research has resulted in development and marketing of the dronabinol (synthetic THC) product, Marinol?, for the control of nausea and vomiting
caused by chemotheraputic agents used in the treatment of cancer and to stimulate appetite in AIDS patients. Marinol? was rescheduled in 1999 and
placed in Schedule III of the CSA. Research suggests that susceptible individuals who avoid cannabis have a 25 per cent chance of developing
psychosis, whereas susceptible individuals who smoke cannabis have a 50 per cent risk. It appears that the more cannabis an individual smokes,
and the earlier they start, the worse the outcome. Research shows that use of marijuana during the first month of breastfeeding can impair an
infant’s motor development.
Effects on gastrointestinal tract: Marijuana has known antinausea properties and the use of marijuana has been permitted for the treatment of
nausea in some US states for this reason. Oddly enough, a chronic nausea/vomiting syndrome has been reported in numerous habitual marijuana
users. Effective action usually involves a combination of measures including clear policies, an employee assistance program, education, reporting
systems, enhanced supervision, and methods to detect impairment and the associated risk to safety. Although many of these are in place at BC
Ferries, some could be more effective while others merit consideration for inclusion.
Drugs can be more harmful when the people taking them don't know much about them. Learning about drugs helps keep us safe and healthy. Drug
taking is often denied, or the amount that is admitted by the patient is so little that one cannot say that this accounts for the current
symptoms. Worse still, patients may not even consider Cannabis as an illicit or dangerous drug and so do not mention using it. Drugs such as LSD
and Ecstasy were classified A at an early stage in their impact on the street, as much to try to stop the expansion of their use as to signal
genuine evidence of their harm. They still sit in A, alongside heroin and crack cocaine, despite the fact that they are indubitably less
dangerous to the user or to society.
