To improve their odds, committed speed demons (and scofflaws) are resorting to a new generation of high-end radar-detection devices. Police are not stupid. They change the locations where they set up speed traps many times per day.

Radar data are converted into rainfall rates and speed data from the inductance loop speed traps are converted into a deviations from a normal performance measure. However, it is critical you check the legality of radar detectors in your state, since several states have determined use and even possession of such a device is illegal. Radar detectors with laser detection can only detect these types of photo speed traps at perhaps 10 feet, if you detect it at all. There are a number of photo radar manufactures.
